How to Measure a Baseball Jersey Before Ordering a Custom Size

To choose a custom baseball jersey size, measure a jersey that already fits you and compare those measurements with the chart for the item you want. Match the measuring method and units first. A size letter alone is a poor substitute for that comparison.

Open the baseball section of the Heretro jersey size guide alongside your chosen product. Read any additional sizing instructions on the listing before measuring. This guide explains the process; the chart and product options supply the actual measurements and available sizes.

1. Choose a useful reference jersey

Pick a jersey you wear comfortably in the way you intend to wear the new one. If you normally put a layer underneath, consider that when choosing your reference. Lay it on a flat surface, smooth out folds and let it rest without stretching it. Close the front if that matches the measuring method shown in the chart.

A favorite T-shirt can help you think about fit, but its cut may differ from a baseball jersey. A jersey with a similar shape is a better reference when available. For a gift, use the recipient’s garment measurements where possible rather than guessing from height alone.

2. Measure chest width using the chart’s method

When a chart specifies flat chest width, measure straight across the laid-flat garment at the indicated points, commonly under the armholes. Keep the tape level and record the number without pulling the fabric wider. If the chart illustrates a different position, follow that illustration.

Flat width and circumference are different. A hypothetical flat width of 22 inches corresponds to roughly 44 inches around the garment, not a 22-inch chest circumference. Those numbers are a measuring example only, not a Heretro size recommendation. Do not double a chart value that already represents a full circumference, and do not compare a body measurement directly with a flat garment width.

3. Check length as well as width

Measure length from the starting point specified by the chart to the indicated hem point. A measurement from the shoulder can differ from one taken from the back of the neck. Compare like with like, and note whether the chart refers to the front or back.

Chest width can look suitable while the jersey is longer or shorter than you prefer. Check both dimensions before making the final choice. If the chart does not explain its measuring points clearly, ask Heretro about the exact listing.

4. Keep units consistent

Write down whether you used inches or centimeters. One inch equals 2.54 centimeters. Convert your reference measurements if necessary, then compare the same dimensions in the chart. Keep the original notes so you do not mix a converted width with an unconverted length.

If your measurements sit between listed sizes, compare the differences in width and length. Consider your preferred room for movement and any layer underneath. There is no universal “always size up” rule for every garment and wearer; ask for guidance when the difference is uncertain.

5. Recheck the product before adding personalization

Available size choices depend on the listing. Confirm your selection on the product page, then enter the name and number. Check those details again in the cart. A confirmed personalized order cannot be guaranteed to be changed or canceled, and the exchange policy has specific conditions.

  • Reference garment measured without stretching.
  • Same measuring points used as the chart.
  • Flat width kept separate from circumference.
  • Length and units checked.
  • Size, name, number and quantity reviewed together.
